Calcium Hypochlorite Feeders

PPG Accu-Tab® PowerBase AT Chlorinating System

The Accu-Tab® system can make all the difference in safety, simplicity, reliability, maintenance, ease of chemical handling, consistent chemical delivery and excellent water clarity. As the third largest manufacturer of chlorine in the world, PPG has been producing chlorine and chlorine products for over 50 years. Using the Accu-Tab® System eliminates the hazards of chlorine gas and liquid bleach, protects bathers, plaster and equipment and reduces chloramine odors dramatically. It is the only cal-hypo feed system which eliminates the all too common plugging associated with other types of cal-hypo feed systems, no more valve and tubing cleaning. It is the only cal-hypo feed system that does not require the constant operation of a booster pump; the booster pump only operates when chlorine is called for by the controller. The Accu-Tab® System provides consistent, dependable pool water chlorination and it offers very consistent chlorination rates using a unique flow concept that enhances the pool filtration system and makes the pool water sparkle. The Accu-Tab® System operates as an independent loop from the pool system, and feeds up to 190 lbs. of available chlorine per day. The Accu-Tab® PowerBase AT System includes: Accu-Tab® Feeder, booster pump (110V), and plumbing/flowmeter kit.

Cal-Hypo Feeder Comparison

Issues PPG Accu-Tab® System Other System
Scaling of feed tubes 1-1/2" feed lines eliminate plugging. Weekly to monthly tube cleaning.
Scaling of cal-hypo tray No small openings to clog. Weekly to monthly cleaning and scraping.
Sludge at bottom of feeder Steady flow reduces cleaning to once a year.  Run a hose to flush.   Weekly to monthly cleaning, by tipping feeder over and flushing, removing valve assemblies, cleaning multiple tubes, cleaning venturi, and soaking and scraping briquette tray.
Scaling float assemblies No moving parts in contact with chlorinated solution to scale. Multiple float valve assemblies requiring removal for cleaning, and frequent replacement.
Scaling venturi No venturi needed.  Monthly breakdown and cleaning required.
Booster pump operation Booster pump only operates during chlorine feed cycle saving energy and assuring long pump life.  Constant 24/7 booster pump operation wastes energy and requires frequent replacement.
Cal-hypo tablets; feed rates Patented controlled erosion agent for steady chlorination rates.  Briquette erosion uneven and allows fluctuating chlorination rates.
Cal-hypo tablets; formulation Formed tablet virtually eliminates dust and broken pieces that contribute to sludge build-up in feeders.  Uneven briquette shape causes dust and broken pieces to be dumped in feeder causing sludge build-up.
Cal-hypo tablets; erosion of tablets Formed tablet shape and patented controlled erosion agent allows for steady even erosion.  Uneven briquette shape causes uneven erosion of briquettes causing frequent tray plugging and reduced chlorine feed output.
Flow rates and tank level indication Provided with tank level sight glass, and flowmeter for precise level verification and flow control.  No means of verifying tank level, no flow control.
Erosion method Incoming water contacts only the bottom surfaces of the tablets. Tablets erode at a consistent rate, the upper tablets remain dry.  Incoming spray shoots up through the tablets causing uneven erosion and wetting of upper briquettes which contributes to sludge build-up on briquette tray.
Tablet level viewing Clear cover top for easy tablet level verification.  Cover must be opened for briquette level verification. If feed water is not closed off prior to opening, operator can be sprayed with chlorine.

CHF-150®

The CHF-150® is a calcium hypochlorite feed system which utilizes the principle of erosion. As chlorine is needed, the feeder is activated, directs water flow through its activation chamber and across calcium hypochlorite briquettes/tablets. The chemical product dissolves, releasing a chlorine solution, which is delivered to the body of water to be treated via a venturi. This new design affords large capacity chemical storage, failsafe overflow protection, and it is easy to operate and maintain. The CHF-150® feeds up to 150 lbs. of available chlorine per day. Complete with booster pump and venturi. Available with booster pump delay relay, which activates the booster pump only when chlorine is feeding.
